I do a lot of grass roots wine education—for individuals, small groups, sommeliers, importers, wine schools, and journalists—using Etna as a lens to have an engaged conversation about the world of wine. It’s not often that a large group, like the #Winelovers, comes around.
The #Winelover community is composed of more than 21k international connoisseurs and wine trade, and tourism professionals. A few times a year, the group organizes high-intensity international tastings around the world by working with local specialists like Etna Wine School.
For the event (in the video above), Etna Wine School and the Consorzio Etna DOC worked together to develop a multi-day program where more than 30 individuals from a dozen countries had direct access to 23 different Etna wineries and scores of wines.
Wines tasted included Etna Spumante, Etna Bianco, Etna Bianco Superiore, Etna Rosato, Etna Rosso, and Etna Rosso Riserva. Educational elements were woven into the personalized and intimate tastings.
During the event, Etna Wine School sat down with a number of our guests to ask them what their honest impressions were, of the wines and the boutique terroir of Mount Etna.
These were their answers. [see video above]
What do you think of Etna wines? What does Etna mean to you? Please feel free to leave your comments, or contact us for personalized educational opportunities.
