Wine News and Opinion | Etna Wine School

We’ve been voluntarily quarantined in Sicily for a week now. Apart from a bit of rain yesterday, the weather has been beautiful and our spirits have been high. We’ve had a lot of laughs, great naps, and only a few moments of concern. While this mandatory staycation has contributed to more than a few ‘pajama days,’ I didn’t want to let it turn me lazy. Rather than clean my closet, however, I looked at the website.


During our courses and lectures, I often point out that, while Etna wines have a distinctive terroir, their story parallels the deeper narrative of Wine in the world. For me, Etna is a lens through which the history and contemporary trends of wine come into focus.

What I wondered was … Why not bring the discussions we have in class directly to the website? Why not provide the information and research to the students? Knowledge is meant to be shared, right?

With this in mind, I built a news feed into our main blog, to bring the international community to a single source of free information for our growing community of subscribers, guests, and students. In other words, a funnel. In Italian, imbuto.


I don’t know about you, but I have a ton of online bookmarks. It’s nearly impossible to keep up with the regular flow of publications. Instead of adding one hundred+ bookmarks to your own list, bookmark the new News & Opinion page on the EWS website for regular, reliable content.

We scour the internet every few hours to find valuable articles, podcasts, and videos, to share with you here. In the coming days and weeks, I’ll be tweaking the system to include other special features.
